FAQ

  • My practice hours are Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

To prioritize my own well-being and ensure I can provide you with the best care, my practice operates under the following closure schedule:

    • No Weekend Availability: I am not available for sessions on Saturdays or Sundays.

    • Major Federal Holidays: The practice will be closed in observance of all major U.S. federal holidays.

    • Annual Winter Closure: The office will be closed for the last week of December and the first week of January each year to allow for rest and renewal.

I believe that modeling sustainable practices is an important part of our work together. This schedule allows me to be fully present and focused during our sessions.

All planned closures will be communicated well in advance, and you will never be charged for a session scheduled on a day the practice is closed.

Please note: I do not offer crisis services. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room

  • A consultation is a free, 15 minute phone call that serves as a no pressure introduction. This is our opportunity to see if we might be a good fit to work together. We'll briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, you can ask any questions you have about my process, and we can talk about availability. It's the perfect first step to see if this feels right before booking a full intake session.

  • Therapy is highly individualized. Some clients have specific short-term goals and may only need a few months. Others benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust our plan as needed. You are always in control of your therapeutic journey.

  • Therapy focuses on healing and understanding the "why" behind your feelings. It helps you process past experiences, diagnose and treat mental health conditions (like anxiety or depression), and build a foundation of mental wellness.

Coaching focuses on action and forward movement. It helps you set specific goals for your life (like improving focus with ADHD, building confidence, or navigating a career change) and creates a step-by-step plan to achieve them.

Think of it like this: Therapy helps you understand and repair the engine of your car. Coaching helps you with a map and directions to reach your desired destination.

  • I believe in transparent pricing so you can make informed decisions for your family. I am a private pay practice, which allows us the flexibility to create truly personalized care without the restrictions of insurance companies.

    Why Private Pay?

    • Privacy & Confidentiality: Your treatment is completely confidential. No diagnoses or session details are shared with insurance companies.

    • Control of Your Care: We decide on the frequency and length of treatment based on your needs, not insurance company rules.

    • Focused Approach: Without the paperwork required by insurers, I can dedicate more time and energy to your care.

Limited sliding scale spots may be available based on need and availability. Please inquire during your consultation.

  • Yes, superbills are offered every 21 days of service.

    What is a Superbill?

Think of a Superbill as a detailed receipt designed for insurance companies. It's not a bill we send to you. Instead, it's a form we provide you after you pay for your session.

This form contains all the technical information your insurance company requires to process a claim for reimbursement, including:

    • Your diagnosis and diagnostic codes.

    • The therapy service codes (CPT codes).

    • Dates of service and fees paid.

    • Our practice and provider details (NPI, Tax ID).

You pay us directly, we give you the Superbill, and you submit it to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Why Choose Private Pay with a Superbill? You Gain Control.

Choosing to private pay and use a superbill is often the best of both worlds: you get the personalized care of private pay with the potential to get some of the cost back.

You are not giving up your insurance benefit; you are simply choosing a different path to potentially access it.

By paying privately and using a superbill, you prioritize your privacy and therapeutic goals. You take direct control of your mental health journey, and we provide you with the documentation you need to seek reimbursement on your own terms.

    • Please note: I am considered an out-of-network provider. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific insurance plan. I recommend calling your insurance company to ask about your "out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits" before our first session.

    • Questions to ask your insurer: "Do I have out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy?", "What is my deductible, and has it been met?"

  • To keep the process simple and allow you to focus on your session, payment is collected conveniently and securely at the end of each appointment.

All major credit, debit, and HSA (Health Savings Account) cards are accepted. Your card information is stored securely and encrypted within my electronic health record system (SimplePractice), and the card on file will be automatically charged immediately following our session. You will receive a detailed receipt for your records.

  • I require 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling of an appointment. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. This policy allows me to offer that time to someone on my waitlist.

  • To provide the greatest flexibility and accessibility for my clients, my practice is currently 100% virtual. All sessions are conducted via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform. This means we can meet for our appointments no matter where you are in Michigan, as long as you have a private space and an internet connection.

  • Absolutely! Research shows that teletherapy is just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns. Prior to our appointment, I'll send you a secure, HIPAA compliant link to our video session. You just need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a stable internet connection and a private place to talk. It’s a convenient way to get the support you need without adding a commute to your day.

  • Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you discuss in session is protected by law and will not be shared with anyone without your written permission. There are a few legal exceptions to this (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult), which we will discuss in detail during our first meeting.
